Meru National Park is a national park located in the eastern part of Kenya. It covers an area of about 870 square kilometers (340 square miles) and is situated at an altitude of 1,300 to 1,600 meters (4,300 to 5,200 feet) above sea level. The park was established in 1966 and is named after the nearby Mount Meru, which is part of the eastern branch of the East African Rift Valley. Meru National Park is known for its diverse wildlife, including a wide range of mammals, birds, and plant species.
